Wedding reception parties are generally an extension of the celebration of a marriage, held a few days or a day after the bride and groom ties the knot. Importance of marriage can hardly be denied for any individual or a community present in any culture. Wedding reception parties are generally thrown to validate the marriage and seek the blessings of all the loved ones. It is a common trend seen in almost all marriage, be it a Hindu marriage, Christian wedding, Indian marriage, American wedding, Muslim marriage, European wedding ceremonies or even marriage held in an Asian country such as Bangladesh. In fact, Bangladeshi people pay a lot of attention to making their wedding reception parties a memorable event. A particular Bangladeshi marriage that I happen to remember the most for the fabulous wedding reception party arrangements was the one I attended recently of my friend-Adil Khan.
Adil’s was an arranged marriage ceremony as he was getting married to a girl whom his parents found through one of the popular Bangladeshi matrimonial websites. Adil wanted to throw a grand reception party in which he could invite all his guests and seek blessings of all family-friends and well-wishers who could not make it to his wedding. He decided to keep the wedding reception party a few days after the marriage ceremony so that they do not get stressed with reception party planning and arrangements just right after the marriage ceremonies are over. A gap of few days in between the marriage ceremony and the reception could allow them to relax and also get adequate time for making proper arrangements.
Following the conventional norm as observed in most Bangladeshi weddings, Adil’s family hosted the wedding reception party but bride’s family and close friends also took part in the same. Adil began his party preparations days in advance to make sure that nothing goes wrong on the important day and they could properly interact and have great fun without any hassle. The first thing Adil did was to choose a suitable wedding party location where he could hold the celebrations. A reputed club’s private park was chosen as the venue for holding the reception party. After deciding on the venue, Adil took up the other important tasks concerning the wedding reception party such as the decorations, photography, guest invitations, return gifts and arrangements for food and drinks.
As there were many elaborate preparations to be done, Adil took the help of some of his close friends and started the planning several prior to the decided date to make sure that guests enjoyed the party thoroughly. Elegant party venue, artistic and flamboyant decorations, dazzling lighting arrangements, suitable reception party music, sumptuous food and wide variety of drinks on offer made the reception party a great hit.
Getting married is an event like no other and thus Bangladeshi couples like Adil have started paying due emphasis to party planning when organizing wedding reception parties.
