An outdoor wedding is mostly preferred by today’s couples in most cultures, be it an Indian marriage, a European-style wedding, a Hindu marriage or a Muslim marriage. Even most of the Bangladeshi weddings are being organized outdoors to create the perfect ambience for the guests as well as the bride and groom on their special day. The decoration is the most essential part that couples largely focuses on when choosing an outdoor site as the right décor can accentuate the beauty of the D-day and make the wedding a memorable affair for not only the wedding couples and their families but also the invitees.
Given the importance of marriage in Bangladeshi society, most couples ensure that all the details related to the marriage ceremonies are worked out well in advance and much meticulously so that nothing goes wrong during the D-day. A particular marriage ceremony that I remember the most for the emphasis that was laid on decoration for outdoor wedding was that of my Bangladeshi friend-Hafiz Mirza. He chose the stunning lawns of a famous club in his locality to host a wedding party. As Hafiz was doing an arranged marriage, he wanted the décor to be a perfect blend of both modernity as well as traditional elements. The richly colored foliage surrounding the club and the well-manicured lawns made the reception site look more beautiful. Hafiz just wanted to accentuate the splendor of the outdoor location with his décor ideas.
The first important thing that Hafiz did in order to create an elegant décor was to find a reputed decorator who can give shape to his décor ideas and make his reception party a success. He short-listed a few names of decorators from some of the popular Bangladeshi marriage websites. Most wedding organizers, decorators and planners are enlisted in famous Bangladeshi matrimonial websites. After short-listing, he saw samples of his chosen decorator’s work and selected a popular firm that has years of experience in doing decoration for outdoor weddings.
Hafiz ordered his decorator to cover a large part of the lawn with colored tent so that the guests can be accommodated in the sheltered place if the weather plays spoilsport. To highlight the beauty of his site, he chose to adorn the tent with flowers of vibrant colors such as red, orange and pink. To give that rustic feel, he came up with the idea to scatter a few dried leaves along the edges of the colored isle runner to blend well with the natural surroundings. Hafiz wanted the reception tables to be decorated with exquisite centerpieces that go well with the wedding theme.
Instructions were specifically given to the decoration company to light up the lawn beautifully to enhance the magnificence of the place. Hafiz spent a good amount of money to make sure that all corners of the outdoor reception site are well lit up. Battery operated flickering tea-lights were kept above the tables to dazzle up the place. Like Hafiz, other Bangladeshi couples are also putting in every possible effort and good time and money to make the decoration for their outdoor wedding affair unique and creative to create a lively atmosphere.
